New Protocol For NHS Local Dispute Resolution
12/02/2010
The NHS system for reimbursing Doctors rent for their premises has been improved, with a new streamlined process for dealing with disputes.
Following the NHS Litigation Authority setting up a panel of Independent Advisers (specialist valuers appointed by the Dispute Resolution Service of the RICS and replacing the old referrals to the District Valuation Office) NHS LA has now issued to GP contractors and Primary Care Trusts a Protocol for Local Dispute Resolution. This requires full valuation reports to be prepared by both parties and encourages full debate between the valuers concerned.
John Hearle of Aitchison Raffety worked with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors to provide advice on the new Protocol for Local Dispute Resolution before it was issued by the NHS Litigation Authority. All parties hope this will ensure consistency across Primary Care Trusts nationwide and so reduce the number of appeals.
Common procedures are long overdue and these improvements will ensure a swifter more efficient system for all involved in disputes with the NHS commented
